Iqra
1. Your agreement
By downloading or using Iqra you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), which is incorporated by reference and available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where they differ, these Iqra terms explain how Iqra itself works; Apple's EULA governs the relationship Apple provides for apps distributed through the App Store.
2. What Iqra is
Iqra is an independent iPhone app that helps a reader begin the morning with the Qur'an. It bundles the Qur'an text and a translation for offline reading, calculates Fajr on the device, and, only if you choose and authorise it, uses Apple's Screen Time to rest apps you select from Fajr until the day's reading is complete.
Iqra is a pre-release app in active development. Features, screens and behaviour may change as it moves toward the App Store.
3. Accounts, sync and deletion
An account is optional. Guests use Iqra with no account and no upload; all guest data lives on the phone and is deleted with the app. Signing in with Apple or Google enables background sync of the progress and settings listed in the privacy policy; your blocked-app selection and your location never sync.
You can sign out (clearing the copy on the phone while the account keeps its data) or delete your account (removing it from Iqra's database, permanently) at any time in the app's Settings.
4. Content and credits
The Qur'anic Arabic text in Iqra comes from Tanzil and is used under its terms; the English translation is the public-domain rendering of Marmaduke Pickthall. The app's typefaces (Amiri Quran, Cormorant Garamond and Figtree) are licensed under the SIL Open Font License. Sources and licences are shown in the app under Settings → About the text & credits, and Iqra's content rules are recorded in the project's licensing notes.
Iqra is a personal, independent project. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any mosque, school, publisher or institution, and it is not a source of religious rulings.
5. Using the shield responsibly
The morning shield is a commitment aid built on Apple's Screen Time. Screen Time access can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings, and Iqra will never claim the shield is impossible to bypass. You are responsible for the passcode and Screen Time settings on your own device.
6. No warranty
Iqra is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. In particular, no warranty is given that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every dawn will be calculated to a particular standard, or that a Screen Time shield will survive every iOS update. Screen Time behaviour is ultimately controlled by Apple and may change or require approval per region.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of Iqra, this website, or any reading or habit it helps you form. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated as Iqra develops; the date at the top always reflects the current version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
